As the role of the County Offices of Education continues to evolve, this conference is dedicated to providing COE board members with the tools and information to empower them to be effective elected education leaders. This year’s sessions will address governance during challenging times, focusing on the unique responsibilities that differentiate county school board members from district board members. Be inspired as you leave with new ideas for serving students.

According to the US Department of Education, “Climate change impacts on students, families, schools, and communities across the country are present, severe, and worsening.” County Offices of Education have an essential role to play in coordinating a response to climate change, and Boards of Education can serve as powerful advocates for schools, while engaging community, county, and state leaders in developing solutions. In this session, participants will learn how COE leaders in San Mateo, San Joaquin, and Santa Cruz counties have begun to catalyze regional change towards sustainable and climate-ready schools.
